Egypt eVisa: Navigating the Choice Between Single and Multiple Entry

Egypt eVisa: Navigating the Choice Between Single and Multiple Entry

The Egypt eVisa offers both single and multiple-entry options. Which one is right for your itinerary? Learn the distinct rules of each to avoid costly border delays and re-entry denials.

When planning an expedition to the pyramids or the Red Sea coast, securing an Egypt eVisa before departure is the smartest approach for eligible travelers. During the application process, you face an immediate decision: should you purchase the Single-Entry or the Multiple-Entry authorization? Making the wrong choice can seriously disrupt complex travel plans across the Middle East. The Single-Entry eVisa - Privileges: Permits precisely one entry into Egyptian territory. - Validity Window: The visa itself is valid for use within 90 days from the date of issue. - Maximum Stay: Once you clear immigration, you are authorized to stay for a maximum of 30 continuous days. - Best For: The vast majority of tourists who are flying into Cairo or Sharm El-Sheikh, staying for their standard holiday, and flying directly back home. The Multiple-Entry eVisa - Privileges: Allows an unlimited number of entries into Egypt, provided they fall within the validity timeframe. - Validity Window: Valid for a significantly longer 180 days from the date of issue. - Maximum Stay: Permits a maximum stay of 30 days per individual entry. - Best For: Travelers executing complex regional itineraries or business professionals making frequent short trips. The Regional Travel Factor (The "Jordan Rule") The distinction becomes critical for tourists planning regional excursions. It is incredibly common for visitors to Egypt to book a side trip to Petra in Jordan or to cross into Israel for a few days before returning to Egypt for a flight home. If you hold a Single-Entry eVisa and you exit Egypt to visit Jordan, your visa is immediately voided. Upon attempting to return to Egypt, you would require a brand new visa. If you plan to leave Egyptian territory and return during the same vacation, the Multiple-Entry eVisa is absolutely mandatory. To review current nationality eligibility and securely apply for either visa type, visit our dedicated Egypt eVisa portal.
